A landmark of architecture in Manaus, the project was designed by the modernist architect Severiano Mário Porto and built in the 1970s. The building, constructed from regional wood, once served as the headquarters of Banco da Amazônia S.A. (BASA). Currently, the historic structure is undergoing renovations after being granted to the Manaus City Hall, where the Severiano Mário Porto Cultural Center will be established.
