The first large-scale building in São Paulo was designed by Adhemar Marinho and Álvaro Vital Brazil, using a rationalist plan to create a mixed-use building with commercial spaces and residential apartments. The building was erected in 1938 and, in 1990, was listed as a site of historical and architectural interest by CONDEPHAAT.
